Region - An area on the planet that is composed of places with unifying characteristic

Formal Region -  A region whose boundaries are formally defined

Functional Region - a region made up of a central place and surrounding areas affected by it. 

Vernacular Region - an area that has been identified based on people's perception of culture.

Deep South - 

Primary States: Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Louisiana

Major Cities: Houston, Atlanta, and New Orleans

Mid-Atlantic - 

Primary States: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and West Virginia

Major Cities: New York, Philidelphia, Washington, and Baltimore 

Cascadia:

Primary States: Idaho, Oregon, and Washington 

Major Cities: Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver
