Geographic Grid - A system of imaginary arcs drawn in a grid pattern on the Earth's surface.
Latitude - a geographic coordinate that specifies the north-south position of a point on the Earth's surface.
Longitude - a geographic coordinate that specifies the east-west position of a point on the Earth's surface, or the surface of a celestial body.
Parallels - imaginary line extending around the Earth parallel to the equator; it is used to indicate latitude.
Meridians - imaginary north-south line on the Earth’s surface that connects both geographic poles; it is used to indicate longitude.
The Major significant lines of Longitude and Latitude are the Equator and Prime Meridian. The Equator is the imaginary line that separates the Northern and Southern Hemispheres and is at 0 degrees latitude. The Prime Meridian is the imaginary line that separates the Eastern and Western Hemispheres and is at 0 degrees longitude.
